Tape Deck part 8: Slide No More

Why at eleven years old did I own the tape of a 1970’s female reggae singer? Because this album had the hottest dance track (if you were middle aged and attending a lot of weddings) of the early nineties: the Electric Slide. I too enjoyed the this song and would not hesitate to do the corresponding dance. However, that would quickly come to an end as adolescence sprung up and everything from my previous dozen years of life was suddenly uncool. No more dancing. Couldn’t bring attention to myself. Just stand back and try to blend in. I’m not saying that I should have been electrically sliding through my teenage years, but I always look back and wish I would have worried less.
